Pastor Carr Update BOC

BOC

Dear Friends,

This is a “combo” newsletter of all that is going on here at Bruce Outreach Center these past two months.  Yes, there have been some limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions, but the work of the Lord continues.  It is important to Leslie and me that our partners know that your resources are invested well here in the Mountains and that Kingdom work is accomplished because of YOU, and YOUR prayers and generosity!!  So, here is an overview of some of the highlights - kind of like a “Kingdom Investors Report” for our partners here in the Mountains.

June

1 - Hallelujah, we were able to report this month that the Lord has provided the monies needed for the trusses for the new roof we need to put on over the auditorium and gymnasium in the Spring.  To all who gave to this project, THANK YOU!!!

2 - We provided our first Post-COVID food and clothing distribution with our community along with a presentation of “The Four Spiritual Laws” to everyone who picked up food and/or clothing - over 6,000 pounds of food were distributed as well as countless pieces of clothing!!

3 - We were blessed to commission our daughter, JoJo, as a missionary to the Well House near Birmingham, AL (see picture to the left).  She is working as a House Parent for women who are rescued from human trafficking.  The church sure has rallied around her and God is blessing the ministry in which she is serving!!  Leslie and I are very proud of our girl!!

4 - We were blessed by a generous donation from our friends at Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie, MD towards our work on our Cycle - Breaking Apartments.  This has been put on hold recently, so we were really grateful for this injection of capital and energy!!  Thank you, Pastor Tim, and all of our friends at Faith BC!!

5 - We were blessed, through grants and donations, to build a new playground for the preschoolers in our Bruce Learning Center Ministry (see right).  Our BLC continues to grow and will start offering hot lunches for our children next month!!  The Gospel continues to be shared on a regular basis!!

6 - Last but not least, we also recognized our graduates at a special Sunday service this month!!

July

1 - We were able to register our first two men into ministry training through external studies in the Pastoral Leadership Certificate Program at Samford University in Birmingham, AL.  The plan is to train these men, along with some courses through the Tony Evans Training Institute, as well as practical ministry training right here at BOC, to produce and ordain our first two pastors from BOC next year!!

2 - Our D-Life Group of six men is rapidly coming to the end of our first year.  What a blessing!!  We are looking to expand our group in the Fall as well as possibly adding a ladies’ group, as the Lord leads!!  Thank you to First Baptist Church of Tallassee, AL for their mentoring and support of this ministry!!

3 - Our Fight Night men have now taken on the project of winterizing our Sunday School classrooms (pic to left) with the hopes of “retiring” the coal furnace this coming winter.  What a project, but we are hard at work in two rooms and are planning for the next two.

4 - We are also planning for our next set of deacons to be trained to start in the Fall - all a direct result of FIGHT NIGHT!!

Prayer Requests

1 - Please pray that our roof makes it one more winter so we can start work on it in the Spring!!

2 - Please pray for our Learning Center as we prepare for the Fall and the coming School Year!!

3 - Please pray for our Outreach Academy as our homeschool ministry will be growing to almost 50

students this coming school year.

4 - Please pray for our various mission teams who are trying to figure out how to proceed with our

partnerships together through these Covid-19 times, that they would have wisdom!!

5 - Please pray for us as a church to have wisdom as we try to stay evangelistic in a time that is so

easy to get trapped in “survival” mode!!

6 - Please pray for our daughter, Jo, as she serves at the Well House - for the ministry, for her safety,

for the women with whom she is working, and for provision!!

7 - Please pray for Leslie and me as we continue to raise our own support during what is a really challenging time for all of us, including our wonderful partnering churches and individuals!!

I believe that’s it for now.  I hope this gives you kind of an overview of all that is happening here in our Mountains.  If you have anything we can be praying for you about or if there is any way we can encourage you, your family, and your ministry, please do not hesitate to let us know.  It would be our honor to do so!!  We are so blessed to have each of you as friends and partners - without each of you, what we do here in the Mountains would not be possible.  May God richly bless you all!!!

Your Partners in the Harvest,

Steffan and Leslie Carr
